A Day of Art, Nature & Connection

We’re still glowing from our West Marin Impressions workshop at Black Mountain Ranch—a beautiful afternoon where art, nature, and community came together in the most meaningful way.

Participants of all ages gathered for a hands-on, multigenerational experience rooted in creativity and curiosity. We explored natural egg dyeing using plant resist techniques, transforming simple ingredients like red cabbage and leaves into rich, organic color and pattern. Alongside this process, we slowed down with a watercolor poppy painting exercise—observing, sketching, and connecting more deeply to the landscape around us.

The experience extended beyond the art table. Guests wandered the farmyard, met sheep and alpacas, and toured the iconic barn and Wool Studio with Marcel, all while taking in the beauty of West Marin. A pause to share light farm-to-table bites created space for conversation, reflection, and connection.

One of our favorite parts? The creative process didn’t end when the workshop did. Participants took their natural dyes home, continuing the magic of the egg reveal in their own kitchens—an unfolding moment of surprise and discovery.

We’ve loved seeing your photos, hearing your reflections, and witnessing how the experience continues to ripple outward. Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared your work and feedback—it truly means so much.

More art + agriculture experiences are already in the works for fall with Connect the Dots Art Studio and Black Mountain Ranch. We hope you’ll join us again.

Until next time
